DIY Side Joystick Frame

A project to improve your home flight simulator | taught by Matt Thomas, CFII

Course description

DIY Side Joystick Frame

Focus on your flying, don't fumble for your flight controls. Take your home flight simulator to the next level. The simple and effective F311 freestanding frame is the best way to secure your HOTAS joystick + throttle and rudder pedals.

This is a DIY project you can build at home with materials from a hardware store. The comprehensive online training shows you how to build an effective and inexpensive frame for your flight simulator controls. This is particularly helpful if you are using a Virtual Reality (VR) headset because you can't see your real world controls while using VR.

DIY Side Joystick Frame:

  • Works with flight simulator controls from Saitek, Thrustmaster, CH Products, Logitech, and others
  • Freestanding frame. You don't have to bolt anything onto your desk or chair
  • Floor Unit mounts for your joystick, throttle, rudder pedals
  • Helps make your flying more enjoyable by holding your chair in place
  • Build from inexpensive materials from your local home improvement store

Online Training! What to expect:

  • The tutorial includes DIY video clips, instructions, pictures, plan drawings
  • Over 20 minutes of streaming video
  • Free access to the Builder Academy (learn basic skills for building DIY Flight Sims)
  • View on desktop, laptop, tablet, or even your phone
